Rise and Fall of SHR

As we all know I always been a big Stewart Haas Racing Fan since Tony Stewart and Gene Haas came together 15 years ago almost. When Kevin Harvick came over to the team I became a bigger fan of the team and have seen it good days and it now absolutely fall from grace to pending closing at the end of 2024.

Haas Racing debut back in 2002 at Kansas since then till now it has ran a total of 771 Cup races and 353 Xfinity Races. They won over 69 cup races and 26 Xfinity Races. Two main manufactures have been part of the team with Chevy first and now Ford.

Message from X from both Gene Haas and Tony Stewart

So, What happen or what the belief about what happen? (Mind you this is my opinion only!)

So there is a couple thing that I feel have caused this to happen. Me and Nick have talk about this and some of it make sense and other part make no sense at all.

  1. I think that this might be a main reason is that Ford told them that at the end of the year there would not be a Main Team of Ford anymore. Like I said this is just an opinion but there some key thing you one has to look at when I say this one right now. During the Silly season at the end of 2023 there was a lot of people saying that Tony Stewart had started looking for a new manufacture to power the team. Most people belief was that they were going to bring over Josh Berry and Noah Gragson who were both heavy into Chevy Development program and that they might be sign pointing to them going back to Chevy. Tony had long been with Chevy long before the switch to Ford and belief was that he was going to make return to them. Here just another Opinion I also believe that Chevy had a bad taste in their mouth from when Stewart Haas had left before and that they we not on board or wasn’t going to give them a full commitment like other Teams such as Hendrick and Trackhouse they would be considering 3rd or on the support list.
  2. Gene Haas wanted out of NASCAR and that wouldn’t have worked with the current situation with Tony away doing full time NHRA and running a sprint schedule. The problem with this is that they are not as structured like Hendrick or Penske where they have more than one person to run the team in the absent of two owners off doing their thing in other sports. Don’t forget Gene is committed more to running his Formula 1 team and that is always going to be that way. Now again this is just my personal opinion I don’t know if this is totally what happen or what going on.
  3. Nick brought something up to me today and I will say it make a bit of sense of what might be happening. Let talk about the other thing that could be going on with NASCAR right now is TV Deal and CHARTERS. What is a charter in NASCAR is a version of Franchise License that guarantees the holder monetary rewards for going to the track each week. It is also a guaranteed spot in the field no matter how you are doing at that race. How much is a charter worth in NASCAR last year a charter went for almost $40 Million and could be up to or more the $50 Million just depends. Nick brought up that maybe with the new rules and stuff going on with the charter system that maybe each team would be only allowed 3 charters from now on or that they might be doing a major restructure of the system. No matter what if Tony and Gene would sale 2 charters which that what we all thought would happen at the end of the season they could get up to $1oo Million or more from getting rid of two of them. AS of now they have sold 3 of them to Trackhouse, 23XI and Front Row Motorsports. There is also still one left to sale, but no one know who might go to as of right now.

What happen now with SHR?

So as of now we watch the remaining of what left in this season we see if one of their drivers can pull off a miracle and win a race to get into the playoffs. We all know as of now nothing will change what already happen SHR is no longer on life support is really already DEAD! We wait to see if Tony Stewart come back to the team and does anything to help them get in the playoffs or if he already fully gone and he just in the background killing what he started 20 years ago.

I was always hoping that SHR would add another owner or a person to run the team because Gene and Tony did their own thing that not going to happen now, we not going to see Kevin Harvick or even Dale JR team up with Tony to make the team better or even just buy out Gene.

We all wait to see what happen to Chase Briscoe (who we all think is going to wood brothers to replace Harrison Burton). Where will Josh Berry and Noah Gragson go that join the team this year who both find got a ride this year probably because Tony made it happen and Dale JR made it happen. Ryan Preece got a second chance in the 41 and has made the most of it but in all honest will probably end up back in Xfinity series. Cole Custer who won the series championship last year in the Xfinity Series is probably got a new ride pick up already and is there best shot to go out as Champions this year within the Xfinity Series. Riley Herbst all I say is I have absolutely no clue what happen to him or where he might go next year with him being out of a ride.
